📚We toss the word detox around, but do we really understand what we are doing and why?
Detoxifying the body is the process of literally moving toxins 🦠 out of the body. We are exposed to over 200,000 man-made chemicals. The human body was not made to fight the constant toxic load of which we all live under these days. We ingest them via the pesticides sprayed on foods (anyone heard of glyphosate☠️?), we drink heavy metals in our water (no, the fridge filter doesn’t help!), we slather lotions and creams on our skin that are full of parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives and synthetic fragrances (just to name a few!) and our body’s largest organ drinks it up!
It’s no wonder our livers and kidneys become stagnant and cannot keep up with cleaning the blood and expelling toxins. If you think of your body as a rain barrel🛢️, where rain is the toxins and by products of every day cellular function, you can visualize your body literally overflowing with junk.
Ok, but so what?
The buildup of toxins in the body wreak havoc on our entire system. Everything from your skin, to digestion, energy levels, to brain function and our immune system is impacted!
Enter the detoxification process!
We use scientifically backed supplements to open the liver pathways. This is referred to as phase I and phase II detoxification. In phase I, toxins and by products are transformed into substances less dangerous to the body and phase II binds them up making them water soluble. Once this happens, we are able to excrete it through the kidneys and intestines. Without this process we don’t allow that powerful organ to do its job! In tandem we scale back on eating red meat and pork to give our digestion a break so we can focus energy on the liver and kidney functions.
Once we have the toxins moving, what’s next? We have to get rid of them and our body expels toxins in 4 ways:
🫁 Lungs – move your body!
🥵 Sweat – working out or sauna are great options
💧 Urine – drink your water & natural gatorade!
🚽 Defecation – probably the MOST important in the detoxification process…so keep reading!
💩We are going to talk dirty for a minute! 💩
Contrary to what conventional medicine will tell you, it is NOT normal to have less than one bowel movement a day! It takes 24-36 hours for food to move through the body so if you are eating solid food every day, you should have 1-2 bowel movements a day. 🤯
If not, then you are constipated! Being constipated leaves toxins in the colon where they can be reabsorbed. 🥴
If this is you👆 take action to ensure you can move your bowels. (See below for our top natural recommendations to assist with slow motility.)
